The CHURCH what is it? OUTLINE by Dr. Raymond Knapp
(Hebrew: qahal [OT:], 'edah [OT:]; Greek: ekklesia [NT:])
(The people of God; the collective body of believers. (Also, CONGREGATION, ASSEMBLY, THE BODY OF CHRIST.))
Jesus told us in the NT that he is with us; the Lord also told them in the OT the same.
Gen 28:15-17
15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you."
16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it."
17 And he was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!"
God wants a place on earth so people can come unto His Spirit, a location, a Gate to Heaven.
1 Tim 3:15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.
We have a duty to conduct ourselves in the House of God so God is honored. Jesus came and showed us, to pray, attend services, minister, etc, so God is blessed.
Ex 25:8 And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. MAKE A SANCTUARY, a holy place, not just a meeting place like another place, but a place that is for God, to God and is full of Gods children. So God is there with them.
We are to seek him. To see his presents. Our soul to be satisfied, by praise and joy.
Ps 63:2-7
2 So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.
3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.
4 Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.
6 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.
7 Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.
See and remember God in every place, and at all times, so you will feel like rejoicing and be blessed of God. God is our HELP, His wings, like a mother bird protection of her young.
So DO NOT forget, that it is not only in the sanctuary, but we are the temple of God, God loved us.
1 Cor 3:16-23
16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
18 Avoid Worldly Wisdom Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness";
20 and again, "The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."
21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours:
22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come — all are yours.
23 And you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.
Each one has a service to perform for the other, and to do such humbly in Christ.
Ps 89:7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, And to be held in reverence by all those around Him.
We in our flesh may suffer, but for His sake, we are HIS Body on earth.
Col 1:24-29
24 Sacrificial Service for Christ I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church,
25 of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God,
26 the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.
27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.
29 To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.
OUR duty till He comes, to this end, God understands and we follow, to be in Christ.
OUR ministry, each of us, is to help one another. Fellow workers of God.
1 Cor 3:5-11
5 Watering, Working, Warning Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one?
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building.
10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.
11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Matt 5:13-16
13 Believers Are Salt and Light (Mark 9:50; Luke 14:34,35) "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
